Interested in a new high school for the district, the Clark County Board of Education sought RossTarrant Architects’ help in selecting a site and identifying the program for the new school.
The new site is a 90-acre property with beautiful rolling hills and relatively easy access to the existing High School. Goals for the new facility include the design of flexible classrooms that can be organized by department, grade level or career path. The multi-story facility would focus on incorporating as many sustainable characteristics as possible.
The new school is planned to be constructed in phases. A performance gym is to be included in future phases along with an auditorium and auxiliary gym. Additional work includes an Area Technology Center, which would be connected to the High School with a separate identity and entrance. Athletics fields for baseball, softball, soccer and football are also planned for a future phase to consolidate athletics in a single location. Finally, a walking trail and outdoor space for agricultural and horticultural studies are planned to utilize the naturally rolling site.
