The Franklin County Board of Education decided to make improvements to one of the district’s two high schools—Western Hills High School.
Initial site work included the creation of a new bus loop, visitor parking and parent drop-off area. Existing student and staff parking were reconfigured to accomodate the new traffic patterns. Points of entry were also a concern—a new entry plaza was designed to give the facility a distinct main entrance and canopies were added at the newly created bus drop-off at the rear of the building.
Renovations focused on the administrative area at the main entrance and the auditorium, which included replacement of the seating, lighting and sound system. The project also included a new addition with updated science classrooms and laboratories. The existing science classrooms were converted to standard classrooms.
Construction was phased to allow the building to remain occupied.
