The Bourbon County Head Start Preschool Facility, operated by Bourbon County Schools, provides Early Childhood Education facilities for approximately 300 preschool age children ranging from one to four years old. The 18,400 square foot facility, located on the campus of an existing elementary school, contains areas for classrooms, physical activities, dining and other commons areas as well as space for administrative and adult education programs.
Designed specifically for preschool children, the facility provides an environment specifically tailored to the needs of this age group. Features include interior and enclosed exterior activity areas, spacious classrooms for small group activities, individual restrooms for each classroom, and dining and kitchen areas as well as other support spaces. Building materials and finishes have been selected for their color as much as for their maintainability. Spaces are separated in large part by glass partitions, rendering large parts of the facility visible from any one spot.
