Excitement abounds as the new Case Dining Hall begins to take shape on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus. Under an accelerated construction schedule, work has been ongoing since fall when demolition of the existing Case Hall was completed. The steel frame is complete and exterior framing is underway along with interior framing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins and ductwork installation. Work is on schedule and will be ramping up over the summer with a substantial completion date slated for December 2017. The new dining hall will open to students and staff in January at the beginning of the 2018 Spring Semester.
There is a lot of buzz about this project on campus, particularly as the building will provide updated dining features for the campus including new dining options. The new dining hall will offer sweeping views over Powell Plaza in the heart of campus and will provide much needed connections to the plaza at two different levels, including a large social stair outside. RossTarrant Architects, working in conjunction with Tipton Associates, has been actively engaged throughout the design and construction process, leading the team of consultants and providing daily direction and assistance to contractors lead by construction manager Rycon Construction.
